In an article published in the “New York Post,” Professor Bennett Gershman commented on a situation involving Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes. When it was disclosed that three of the 12 people Hynes had appointed to a special panel set up to review 50 of his most controversial convictions had also contributed to his re-election campaign, Professor Gershman questioned their ability to be objective.
“Does anyone really think these people are going to be objective when they are donating to his campaign?” said Pace University law professor and former prosecutor Bennett Gershman. “These are his friends, his cronies. I think it’s a serious question if they can be objective.”
