Both the general press and law journals have reported on a case argued by the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic. In Raritan Baykeeper v. City of New York, Acting Supreme Court Justice Bernard Graham ruled that New York City cannot operate a 20-acre composting facility in Brooklyn’s Spring Creek Park without approval from the NYS Legislature, a step the City had failed to take.
Raritan Baykeeper was represented by the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic, including more than a dozen students who worked on the effort over the nine years it took to prevail, said Professor Dan Estrin. He especially praised Adam Weiss (’13) and Nicole Sasaki (’14) who did most of the work researching and drafting the motion papers. Sasaski argued the summary judgement motion before Justice Graham in June.
