Coleen Balbert, a 1998 alumna and adjunct professor at Pace Law School, was appointed Chief of Sex Crimes for the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney’s Office.
A press release issued by the office of District Attorney Kenneth P. Thompson announcing her appointment notes Balbert’s earlier service as Deputy Chief of the Sex Crimes Unit in the New York County (Manhattan) District Attorney’s Office. As Deputy Chief, Balbert supervised more than 50 assistant district attorneys, investigators, and support staff handling cases of sexual assault and human trafficking. She first joined the New York County District Attorney’s Office in 1998 following her graduation from Pace Law. At that time, Balbert worked as an assistant district attorney and member of the Trial Division until 2006.
