Professor Michael Mushlin, an expert in prison reform, testified before the New York State Assembly Correction Committee. Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell convened the hearings after the escape of two prisoners from Clinton Correctional Facility, a maximum security prison in upstate New York. Professor Mushlin spoke especially about the need for independent oversight within the state prison system. His testimony was reported widely in the news outlets as well as on Twitter, especially by ABC News Albany affiliate WTEN.
“On a scale of 1-10 how important is prison oversight? 11.” – tweet from @nhartOn10, WTEN reporter Nicole Hart.
