Community Voices to Be Heard at Newburgh Revitalization Meeting

Experts from Pace Land Use Law Center and Center for Community Progress Will Present Plans for Improved Future

WHITE PLAINS, NY, December 13, 2010 –On Wednesday, December 15, Newburgh residents will gather to weigh in on recently-proposed policy solutions to the city’s vacant buildings problem, and to join a movement to fix up the city.

The meeting, co-hosted by Community Voices Heard and PathStone Community Improvement of Newburgh, will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the Ritz Theater Lobby, 111 Broadway, Newburgh.

Climate Change Solutions Should be Local as Well as Global, Asserts Pace Law Professor

WHITE PLAINS, NY, December 10, 2010 –As environmental advocates bemoan the lack of progress on a climate agreement at the summit in Cancun, Mexico this week, the co-author of a just-published book says an alternative approach to combating climate change with huge potential shouldn’t be overlooked.

“While the prospects of approving a silver bullet approach to capping worldwide greenhouse gas emissions recede on the Mexican horizon, what appears is a range of smaller scale and incremental solutions,” said John R. Nolon, co-author along with Patricia Salkin of “Climate Change and Sustainable Development Law in a Nutshell” (West 2010). Salkin is Associate Dean at Albany Law School.
